Open Day at Loughborough's CICE

(11 April 2012) - Applicants, research engineers, sponsoring companies and academics will all be going to Loughborough on 29 May 2012 to attend the CICE’s Annual Open Day.

(20 November 2011) - The Association of Engineering Doctorates (AEngD) is marking its first birthday by revamping its website and adding new interactive features that will dramatically improve how the organisation communicates with its different stakeholders.

Personal rapid transit systems

(7 November 2011) - ULTra Global, a UK-based company, has delivered one of the world's first operational Personal Rapid Transit systems at Heathrow airport. PRT is an innovative urban light transport system and Alan Peters’ research at the Systems Centre (University of Bristol) is making major contributions by applying systems-based approaches to safety management and the application of simulation techniques to aid complex systems integration.

Five new IDCs launched

(13 January 2011) - The automotive and aerospace industries in the UK received a major boost today as Universities and Science Minister David Willetts announced the launch of five new centres across the UK to train engineers of the future.

AEngD is launched

(18 November 2010) - On 17th November the Steering Committee for the Association of Engineering Doctorates (AEngD), held its inaugural meeting. This national Association establishes a community of Engineering Doctorate providers (initially the 19 EPSRC-funded Industrial Doctorate Centres, IDCs) with aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration; to communicate Excellence and Innovation; to give Leadership to the EngD brand; to uphold best practices across IDCs; and to support knowledge transfer.
