Promoting the EngD qualification, the AEngD sought articles addressing any area of engineering research, and its judging panel has shortlisted six entries for the final presentations at a conference to be held at the Building Centre, London, on 26 November.
The shortlisted candidates all demonstrate that they have thought about and understood their audience and can convey information about their engineering challenge, and their research response to that challenge, in a readable way. They are:
EngD alumni / actual impact (articles in this category will describe tangible benefits actually delivered during and/or as a result of the researcher's project):
EngD research engineers / potential impact (articles in this category will describe benefits that were delivered or could be delivered as a result of the researcher's project):
Each article should show a passion for engineering, summarise the researcher's contribution to knowledge and the potential or actual impact of their research, and should encourage readers to consider, question and debate key issues in engineering and society. In short, it should tell a good story, in an accessible style, and show how the work is interesting.
The candidates will be invited to deliver a short presentation (no longer than eight minutes) at the AEngD conference on 26 November. The winners, each receiving £250, will be announced during the post-conference drinks reception immediately after the conference.
