EngD graduate named in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe

(26 January 2017) - EngD graduate Marek Kubik has been named in the second Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe listing for his ground-breaking work on energy storage.

A US listing was published earlier this month, followed by a listing of Europe's leading lights, having been wittled down from over 15,000 nominations.

Dr Marek Kubik, who completed his EngD at the Technologies for Sustainable Built Environments EngD centre at the University of Reading, was named to the 30 Under 30 list in the Industry category based on his doctoral research into renewable energy intermittency and subsequent work solving these challenges through energy storage. Marek had an instrumental role in the development of an award winning 10MW Energy Storage Array in the UK.

This was the first fully commercial battery energy storage facility in the UK and remains the largest in operation today.

Kubik has since moved to Amstedam where he leads AES Energy Storage’s client solutions team in the UK and is overseeing the development and coordination of Energy Storage solution sales and project proposals for clients across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
